Engage Community Standards

At Engage, we pride ourselves on building a dedicated workspace for lawyers that is collaborative, while also being secure and professional. To accomplish our mission, we have a few simple standards we expect all members to meet:

1. We’re all professionals – let’s act like it.

2. Don’t be a Prima Dona or a pain to deal with. Please treat each other and the staff

with the upmost respect.

3. Make a positive impact.

4. Have a little fun!

We believe if you follow the four Standards above, we’ll have a professional environment for all to enjoy. For those that really prefer the fine print of what to do and not to do, below is a more comprehensive outline of the Community Standards and operating procedures.

COLLABORATION, SHARING AND MUTUAL RESPECT

Engage is a place to work and network. While we want our community to be open, fun, energizing, and collaborative, we also want it to be professional for our Members.

VIOLATION OF THESE STANDARDS WILL RESULT IN TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP FOR CAUSE.

MEMBERSHIP

Every person using Engage services and facilities must be a Member in good standing (i.e., dues paid and Membership current), or a Guest of a Member or Engage. Members are accountable for the conduct of themselves and their guests.

The single biggest benefit of Engage Membership is access to your fellow Members. We encourage Engage Members to make connections, collaborate on projects, share ideas, provide advice, and generally make cool stuff happen. However, Members may NOT spend their days directly soliciting other Members.

Engage STAFF

Employees and contractors of Engage (“Engage Staff”) are hired to preform specific roles as assigned to them by Engage, such as managing the facilities and equipment, handling mail, greeting guests, answering questions, coordinating conference space, and similar duties. Engage Staff are not to be used for individual Member tasks or projects (e.g., making copies, printing or scanning documents, running errands, etc.) or handling any administrative duties for any individual Members.

PERSONAL CONDUCT

Behave well and treat others the way you would want to be treated. At Engage’s discretion, repeat or egregious unprofessional behavior will result in a termination of Membership.

Self-Regulation. Please help us ensure the safety, cleanliness, and happiness of the space. Don’t do anything that compromises the security of the space, like propping open a door, giving someone your fob or code, or letting someone in the space unless they are a Member or an accompanied guest. If you have a problem with a Member’s behavior, contact us.

Guests. Feel free to invite friends or guests for lunch, a quick meeting, or just to say hello. Guests are required to adhere to these Standards.

Desk use. All tables and desks at Engage, as well as all couches, tables, chairs, etc., are for the community. Unless you have a dedicated desk or office, please do not leave property on or around the desks or common areas except when you are working at the space.

Alcohol policy. It is fine to relax with a nice drink, but please drink responsibly. We do not tolerate intoxication at the space. Be mindful, too, that your “quitting time” does not always match up with everybody else’s schedule.

Harassment. We have zero tolerance for harassing Engage Staff, Members or Guests. Members or

Guests violating this policy will be sanctioned or expelled from the space, event, or lose their Membership, at the discretion of Engage.

Overnight use. We understand that some of our Members with 24/7 access may need to pull a late night of work every now and again. However, under no circumstances is sleeping at the space overnight allowed.

Heat & air conditioning. We set the heat and air conditioning on a schedule that makes sense for most people. If the heat or air conditioning do not seem to be working, please notify Engage. No personal heaters are allowed. Fans are allowed, subject to Engage approval. If you need heat or air outside of the building’s standard hours, you will be required to pay any charges incurred by Engage related to such heat or air.

Locks. The doors are locked after hours and on weekends. Do not do anything to allow the doors to be unlocked for any notable length of time. If you believe the doors are not locked when you leave the space when they should be, please notify Engage of the situation.

Dress Code. Business attire or dress casual attire is required at Engage during business hours. No shorts, flip-flops, ball caps or similar casual wear. Bear in mind that the image of Engage is one of professionalism. It benefits all Members to maintain this standard in all aspects including the way we dress. Violators will be asked to leave Engage and not permitted to return until dressed appropriately. Dress code rules are not in effect after hours or on weekends.

Prohibited Conduct.

Without limiting the above, you also agree not to use Engage or its Services in connection with:

a. Contests, pyramid schemes, chain letters, junk email, spamming or similar annoying behavior; b. Defaming, abusing, harassing, threatening or otherwise violating the legal rights (such as privacy and publicity) of others;

Pets. No pets at Engage, except for your own service animal.

Smoking. No smoking at Engage.

Children. Except for certain events, we discourage (though don’t prohibit) Members from bringing their children to Engage on rare occasions. If you do bring your children to Engage, please be respectful of the other Members, and know that all Guest rules will be applicable to your children, as well. Children are not allowed to roam Engage and cannot be left unattended at any time.

Photography. Please don't photograph or post any photos of any Members or Guests absent express permission.

Personal Items. Engage is not responsible for any lost or stolen property. All Members and

Guests are responsible for their own belongings and actions. As a Member, you are not required, but it is strongly recommended that you carry a Renters’ Insurance policy to cover your own equipment while using Engage space. Engage strictly prohibits firearms, weapons, drugs, etc. on the premises.

Kitchen. Please label (with your name and date) anything you put in the fridge. The fridge will be cleaned out on a weekly basis (Friday afternoon/evening), and anything that is over a week old, expired, or looks/smells disgusting will be thrown away.

Food & Beverages. Beverages are supplied by Engage for the use of Members and Guests while at Engage. Please do not misuse access to the beverage stations or this privilege. If assistance is needed (i.e., not working, out of supplies, etc.), please bring the matter to the attention of the Engage Staff, who will resolve ASAP.

USE OF ENGAGE FACILITY

You agree to keep common spaces clean and orderly. You also agree not to use Engage for any purpose that is unlawful, prohibited, or that could damage, disable or impair any of the Engage Property, or keep other Members from using the Engage Property, or that would hurt Engage as an ongoing business or injure or impede your fellow Members.

Office Equipment. Office machines, equipment and supplies (collectively, “Engage Property”) is to be used only for its intended purposes of daily operations for Members. Engage may charge Members for excessive use of supplies or equipment. Any Member misusing Engage Property may be terminated.

Conference Rooms. Access to rooms is one of the great benefits of Engage membership. Here’s some info regarding conference rooms:

(i) Engage has a limited number of conference rooms and to ensure that rooms are always available Members must book conference rooms via the front desk prior to use. There is no drop-in use of conference rooms.

(ii) Non-Members or outside groups cannot use the conference rooms unless the Member is present.

(iii) Please clean up after using a conference room.

If you want to hold an event at Engage, please talk to the friendly Engage Staff to discuss scheduling, Guest policy, insurance requirements, and fees if applicable.

Cleaning. Occurs every evening with a deep clean per the building’s schedule.

Security. Engage does not employ security personnel.

Guests. At present, all Guests are required to check-in at the front/host desk and abide by all of the Standards and policies stated herein. Members are responsible for all actions of their Guests at Engage. Unattended Guests are never to be allowed to wander around Engage. You are welcome to show Guests around Engage, but please be considerate of your fellow Members when you do.

Events. All events must be approved in advance by Engage, and may require additional fees. The reserving Member is responsible for all damages, costs, and cleanup associated with such event, including the actions of all non-Member attendees.

Engage Property. All Engage Property, including, without limitation, all office equipment, furniture, kitchen items, supplies, and other resources available at Engage are the property of Engage. Misuse or damage to any Engage Property can result in termination of Members, and personal liability for damage.

Mailboxes and Packages. Each Engage Member will be granted access to a private mailbox for receiving mail, along with a key to the mailbox. Each Member is responsible for these keys and their use. If lost, the Member will pay a fee of $50 to replace the key. Terminating Members who do not return their keys within five days of termination will be assessed a fee of $50.

Courier packages and certified/registered mail sent to Members and received at Engage that are too large for mailboxes will be stored in a secure area, and Members will be notified to pick these up. Absent prior arrangement with the Member, Engage will return, donate or destroy any items left in storage more than one week. Engage is not responsible for any mail or packages not picked up by the Member within one week of receipt.

Members are responsible for changing their address upon terminating Membership with Engage. Engage will not be responsible for collecting or forwarding any Member mail received after such Member’s termination as a Member.

Keycards. Some Members will receive keycard to access the Engage space after hours. Each Member is responsible for these keycards and their use. Sharing or loaning out keycards is strictly prohibited, and will result in termination of Membership.

If lost, the Member will pay a fee of $50 to replace the key card. Terminating Members who do not return their keycards within five days of termination will be assessed a fee of $50.

CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION

You acknowledge that during your Membership in Engage, you are going to be exposed to Engage Confidences. “Engage Confidences” means information (such as business information, trade secrets, technology, customers and prospects, and other secret stuff) disclosed by Engage or by other Members of Engage (including through your keen observation) that is confidential or proprietary in nature and simply just not known by others. It’s plain and simple - you agree to keep confidential and not to disclose or use Engage Confidences, you understand that they remain the exclusive property of whomever disclosed them, and you don’t acquire any rights to such Engage Confidences.

Engage IP

“Engage” and all Engage trademarks, brands, names, domain names, web sites, designs, programs and slogans, program materials and other copyrighted works, confidential and proprietary information and trade secrets, methods and industrial designs, and all other intellectual property used by or at Engage (collectively the “Engage IP”) are the exclusive property of Engage and its licensors. Members are granted a revocable license to use Engage IP in connection with their membership, subject to these Standards and any and all other rules, policies and requirements of Engage. No other use, copying, or creation of derivative works is permitted absent prior written consent from Engage.

GENERAL PROVISIONS

Complaints. Please don’t make defamatory or disparaging comments about Engage or other Members. Frankly, if you don’t have anything good to say, then keep it to yourself or let us know about it. We can probably fix it or at least talk about it. This goes for posts on social media, too. Violation of this request can result in termination of Membership for Cause.

Changes. We will do our best to notify Members of changes to the Standards. We will strive to keep an up-to-date copy of this agreement on Engage’s website and/or Server. Any changes are binding on Members 14 days after they are posted to the Cloud Server and/or web site.

Termination. Violation of these Standards or any other Engage rules or policies could lead to termination of your Engage membership for Cause. Engage has absolute discretion to determine “Cause”, and will terminate any Member who, in Engage’s opinion, is violating the letter or spirit of these Standards or any other policies of Engage or its landlord, agents, or contractors “for Cause”. If Engage terminates a contract “for Cause”, the Member’s contract will be deemed breached by such Member, and all consequences related thereto shall become effective.

If you have any questions or suggestions regarding these Standards, please contact us at: info@engagelawspace.com
